Testimonies about Benefits of Fasting – from Prayer Mountain

TESTIMONY

When I graduated from Bible school and began my ministry, you encouraged me to seek the power of the Holy Spirit through fasting and prayer. So, beginning January I, 1974, I decided to fast for ten days. Before this time I had fasted for one or two days, but this was the first fast of any length I had attempted. On other fasting occasions after three days my strength would be gone, but God gave me special strength during this fast, and I was able to minister regularly in the chapel at the prayer mountain.

The Positive Side of Faith

Folks, I have felt it necessary to address many of the issues which confound and destroy the souls of men, but recently I felt a prompting from the Lord to talk more about FAITH, and focus on the benefits of believing God.

As Christians, we need encouragement for our souls as well as warnings.

Jesus said, "Whatever you ask in prayer, really believing, you will receive."

So I want to develop that faith, and ask, and receive.

The purpose of waiting

“And I will wait on Thy name” Psalm 52:9c

Waiting is a life-long lesson. We learn to wait when we’re children. We conquer that kind of waiting (like for Christmas, our birthdays, summer vacation). Then, as adults we realize we have to wait for a lot of things especially in regard to our faith and prayer requests.

Looking up “wait on” in the Hebrew, I found something very thought provoking. This is part of it:

Methods of Fasting – Chapter 4 – Korean Miracles

We have learned about the wonderful blessing and power that comes through fasting and prayer. Let us now specifically study the method for fasting. Though there is great blessing in fasting, if one doesn't have the basic knowledge as to how to fast, he will not obtain the desired results.

Prayer and Fasting in the Bible – Dr Ja Shil Choi

Practical faith is rooted and grounded in the Scriptures. The Bible shows us the basic pattern for serving God and teaches us the proper approach to fasting.

FASTING AND PRAYER IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

God's chosen people, Israel, always had a special relationship with God. Israel's history is exemplary of men today. In times of ease God is often ignored or forsaken, but in times of distress and difficulty we earnestly seek His face.

The Meaning of Fasting and Prayer – by Dr Ja Shil Choi

Christianity is a religion of personal experiences. It is a spiritual movement, not a lot of theories or "isms." It is a movement of life, truth, the Holy Spirit, and love. The important thing is to have a personal, real experience. Through the right relationship with God we can recognize and understand the Lord's will. There are many ways in which we can experience God's blessings. I recommend fasting and prayer as the most powerful of these.

Korean Miracles by Dr Ja Shil Choi

I found a copy of this old presumably out-of-print book by Dr Ja Shil Choi,  the late mother-in-law of Dr Yonggi Cho, who is the pastor of the massive church in Seoul, Korea – Yoido Full Gospel Church. Dr Choi was the founder of Prayer Mountain in Korea.

This book deals with the power of God that may be released through fasting and prayer. It contains many wonderful testimonies. I saw no copyright notice on it, so I have taken the liberty of publishing it here on this site to inspire the current generation with wisdom from a great woman of God.

Prayer

Prayer is communication with God. Its important that we know how to get answered prayer. God answers prayers on His terms, and He shows us in the Bible what is required if we want to be sure of answered prayer.

We need to believe, because without faith it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6)

We need to get hate sin in our lives. We can't love it and expect to get answered prayers. (Psalm 66:18).

The devil is after your mind

When you dropped the coffee on your favorite shirt, on your way to the interview, it is easiest to think the devil is after your job or your favorite shirt. Truth is that the devil is after your mind.

Your enemy satan knows this more than anyone else. If he can depress you and spoil your mood, he has then won the battle.

We are made in a way that we learn everyday. Intentionally and otherwise. The Bible encourages, “to be made new in the attitude of your minds.” Eph 4: 23

A person is defined by his mind. Proverbs 23: 7 says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”
