The Despair of Meaninglessness for the Unbeliever

"The love of the money is the root of all kinds of evil," said the apostle Paul in 1 Timothy 6:10. Is it any surprise then that the control of money is a key element in the strategies of Satan in his goal to gain the worship of the people of the world, directly or indirectly?
"Lady Gaga" has become something of a worldwide pop culture phenomenon. On youtube alone, her videos have had HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of views and I understand her songs play on the radio a lot too. I see references to "Lady Gaga" all over the newspapers, all over the internet and someone mentions that name at least every second on twitter. She has been named as one of the world's most influential, if not THE most influential celebrity. Quite a marketing coup!
It was with terrible sadness that I learned yesterday of another huge earthquake hitting the New Zealand city of Christchurch. It has only been 2 months since we left that city and we have many dear friends there. The first earthquake last year had no fatalities but this one looks to have many dead and injured.
I want to share a few things about our time in Christchurch that left me quite disturbed and concerned when we left. But I want to be sensitive because of the terrible sadness associated with this new quake.
Jesus is our example. A big part of his ministry was in casting out demons. When the presence of the Lord is manifesting strongly enough, the demons in people start to stir up. Demons often have better knowledge and theology than those who are listening to the message, as we see from this passgae.
To love one another as Jesus loved us is the most important commandment. It is only possible if we live through the power of the Holy Spirit and renew our minds with the Word of God.
The apostle John makes some remarkable statements which fly in the face of much of what people understand by the gospel. According to John, you don't know Jesus if you don't keep His commandments.
Abiding in Jesus and keeping His Word means living as Jesus lived, with a clear channel of communication with God, with the love of God and with access to the supernatural power of God.
John writes so that we may not sin. And yet we have Jesus Christ going to bat for us before the Father at the times we do sin. In this teaching we look at the great blessing it is to have Jesus as our advocate. At the same time, we examine what John says is the Scriptural test for whether we really know Jesus or not.
This Bible Study on the Book of Romans chapter 1 (second half) explores themes of man's accountability for sin, the judgment of God, what happens to people even if they don't know the gospel and more.
"The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it, 8 if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I… thought to bring upon it." (Jer 18,7)
