The reality of hell is a problem to many people. That a God of love could condemn anyone to such a fate prevents them (they say) from believing in such a God. Empathy can be given for such a view, but there are a couple of aspects of it of which they clearly have no understanding: the supreme nature of both (1) hell, and (2) God’s love. God’s Word is quite severe when describing the power of words. It says that it is through the spoken word that God created the universe:
“By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth” (Ps 33:6 NIV).
“For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm” (Ps 33:9 NIV).
The issue of Eternal Judgment is a very important one. It seems from reading what Christian people write on Facebook that there is a lot of confusion on this point. It isn't something I've heard many sermons on over the years, and yet the Scripture teaches that the Doctrine of Eternal Judgment is in fact a FOUNDATIONAL doctrine which babes in Christ ought to understand before moving on to more solid food teaching concerning righteousness.
Does God have a heart to reward His faithful servants? I just want to encourage those of you out there who are serving Christ with your whole heart. If you are serving for the right reasons you are definitely in line for rewards that are so huge, you cannot begin to fathom them now!
"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man, The things which God has prepared for those who love Him". 1 Corinthians 2:9
I just hope you will read that sentence again, and again, and again.
There's no doubt in my mind that Jesus Christ calls all his followers today to a life of self-denial, however its important to realize that this is not self-denial for the sake of self-denial.
Just as an athlete denies himself many enjoyable things over a period of time in order to be the best and hopefully win a gold medal and enjoy the rewards that will follow, so we are called to self-denial with a view to ETERNAL REWARDS that will most certainly follow.
A Message for People who do not know, love or believe in Jesus Christ:
When you give your life to Christ, God gives you ALL THINGS that pertain to life and godliness. He has put gifts in you, abilities, potential and blessed you. He loves you with an everlasting love and since He gave Himself to death for you He is also willing to give you all other things.
At the end of your life He is expecting a return on His investment in you. What have you done with all the things He has given you for His glory and the spread of His Kingdom?
