Why You Are in Deep Trouble without Jesus Christ

Its not a popular message, but its important for you to know that you were born into a rebellious and corrupt race – the human race.

At one time we were not that way, but Adam our Father chose disobedience to God, and sadly that affected us as well. We were born into a world marred by sin. From the word go, demonic powers had access to us to trip us up.

You may think you are not so bad, but its probably because you are comparing yourself to others you believe are worse than yourself.

What counts though is the way God sees it.

God is the Creator, Lawgiver and Judge. We need to consider what Laws God has given, and measure ourselves by what God has said.

Until we are made new through Jesus Christ, the Bible describes us who have sinned against God as being "by nature children of wrath" (Ephesians 2:1-3)

Paul writing to the new believers said:

Eph 2:1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,
Eph 2:2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,
Eph 2:3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

To help us see where we really are at, God gave 10 commandments. The Catholic church has tried to change these, by leaving out the second one, so to remind you I will quote the passage from Exodus in which the Ten Commnandments are given.

Exo 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before me. (1)

Exo 20:4 “You shall not make for yourselves an idol, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Exo 20:5 you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me,
Exo 20:6 and showing loving kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments. (2)

Exo 20:7 “You shall not take the name of Yahweh your God in vain, for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain. (3)

Exo 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 You shall labor six days, and do all your work,
Exo 20:10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to Yahweh your God. You shall not do any work in it, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your livestock, nor your stranger who is within your gates;
Exo 20:11 for in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore Yahweh blessed the Sabbath day, and made it holy. (4)

Exo 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you. (5)

Exo 20:13 “You shall not murder. (6)

Exo 20:14 “You shall not commit adultery. (7)

Exo 20:15 “You shall not steal. (8)

Exo 20:16 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. (9)

Exo 20:17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.” (10)

How does your life measure up to these commandments of God? Have you put God first in your life. Do you esteem God above all else? That is the requirement of the first commandment, and those who break this commandment because they love the world or themselves more than God are lawbreakers here already.

Have you tried to redefine God, not necessarily as a statue or a picture, but according to a mental imagination of your own that is not in line with what God Himself reveals? Do you bow down to idols? If you do, it doesn't matter whether you are a Hindu, a Buddhist or a Christian – you have broken and are breaking the Second Commandment. It makes you guilty before a Holy God.

Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever taken something that is not yours? Have you ever looked at another person with sexual lust? Have you ever taken the name of God in vain? If so, it makes you a thieving, lying adulterous blasphemer in God's eyes.

God requires holiness. If you were to appear before God now, if your life was cut short for any reason, and your life was evaluated before God in the light of these things, would you be guilty or not guilty?

The whole attitude of mankind in general is to suppress the truth about God and honor something else as God instead of the true and living creator God. It might be that you don't believe in any God. Many (not all) atheists worship their own ideas. Why on earth they imagine that their ideas are so important I cannot tell. Being strict atheists, they would have to say that ultimately all they are and think is just a product of random meaningless processes anyway. So how or why should they trust their own thoughts and hold them in such high regard then?

The heart of man is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. And for all man's religious efforts, he cannot cleanse himself of even one sin.

To make matters worse, sin has enslaved us to invisible evil powers that mess with our minds and hold us in deception. Satan's demons are afflicting us, tempting us, tormenting and enslaving us to various degrees, to the extent that we are in disobedience to God. We don't have enough power to save ourselves from their hands.

Into this darkness Jesus came. He came as the Light of the World. Anyone who wants light, who wants to be different can come to Jesus, submit to Him, and be changed. Forgiveness from God is obtained only because Jesus Himself payed for the guilt of our sins and put all the rottenness on Himself so that we could be made new and get out of Satan's hands.

How did this happen? It happened when Jesus of Nazareth was crucified. The Old Testament Hebrew prophet Isaiah prophesied concerning this in Chapter 53 of his book. Jesus took our infirmities, carried our sicknesses, became sinful and sick for us, was punished for our sins and bore our guilt, and the entire curse for us, so that we, the sinners, could be made righteousness, be freed from the curse, and have peace, well-being, forgiveness, heath and eternal hope. Jesus was the fulfilment of all the imagery of the Old Testament animal sacrifice system which God provided as a temporary measure to teach the people about sin and reconciliation with God.

If you don't accept the Savior God provided, if you don't accept Jesus Christ, you are in deep trouble. I have to warn you. You are heading for indescribable eternal sufferings. Do not imagine you are good enough for God. None of us are, except by Him making us righteous on His terms. Do not imagine that God would ever have had His own Son crucified and suffer like this if there was another way for you to be made right again. If you could do it yourself now, God would never have allowed His own dear Son to be a sacrifice for your sins.

Friend, if you are reading this it is not too late for you to turn from your sins, and put your faith in the Only One who can make you right again. Throw yourself at the feet of Jesus. Do this wholeheartedly, and you will find mercy.

Without Jesus, without His sacrifice, you will judged according to God's law, even the law written on your conscience, and the law of which you are now aware. You cannot escape this.

Do not fear what men can do to you, their approval or disapproval. Do not seek first the things of this world, but seek God and His righteousness. God will give you what you need one way or another if you will do that. Do not put off the opportunity you have now to give your life to Christ and be part of God's family. Call upon the name of Jesus, ask God for forgiveness, and forsake those things you know are wrong which are holding you in darkness. God is faithful to save everyone who sincerely comes to Him in childlike faith.
