Delivered from Mormon Deception

Michael, thank you for your insight on whether or not Christians can have demons. I appreciate that there are Christians who will take my experience at face value rather than wondering if I was truly a Christian when this devil entered me. I know there is great controversy on this subject among Christian scholars but for those of us who have experienced deliverance, there is no question as to whether or not a Christian can have a demon.

Prayers to Abide in Christ

Lord Jesus, you have commanded us and given us grace to love one another as you loved us. As we do this, we will abide in You, and You in us. Otherwise we cannot bear fruit. Apart from you we can do nothing. You have made a way for us. You have poured out your love in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, and we can remain in your love. We thank You that through You we will bear much fruit. (Romans 5:5; John 15:4,5)

Lord, we pray for all those not abiding in You. We pray that they will repent, and not be thrown away as worthless branches. We pray that those in the church will never dry up.

A note on this: honestly, the best thing is to start training yourself to say “Thank you Father” for various things regularly throughout the day. Good habits have power! It will make a BIG DIFFERENCE in your life. Grateful people CANNOT be unhappy.

Dear Holy Spirit, help me:

(1 Thessalonians 5:18,19)

– to let the peace of God rule in my heart, to which I was also called in one body; and to be thankful. (Colossians 3:15)

Sin and Salvation – Section I

The Disciple,—Master, it is clear to almost everyone that to disobey God and to cease to worship Him is sin, and the deadly result is seen in the present state of the world. But what sin really is is not absolutely clear. In the very presence of Almighty God, and in opposition to His will, and in His own world, how did sin come to be?

The Master,—1. Sin is to cast aside the will of God and to live according to one’s own will, deserting that which is true and lawful in order to satisfy one’s own desires, thinking thus to obtain happiness.

Prayer – Section I

The Disciple,—Sometimes this question is asked, “Since God is fully aware of our needs, and knows how to supply them in the best way, not for the good only but for the evil, how should we pray to Him about them? Whether our necessities be temporal or spiritual, can we by our prayers alter the will of God?”

The Master,—1. Those who ask such a question show clearly that they do not know what prayer is. They have not lived a prayerful life, or they would know that prayer to God is not a form of begging.

Prayer – Section II

1. To pray does not imply that without prayer God would not give us anything or that He would be unaware of our needs, but it has this great advantage, that in the attitude of prayer the soul is best fitted to receive the Giver of blessing as well as those blessings He desires to bestow. Thus it was that the fullness of the Spirit was not poured out upon the Apostles on the first day, but after ten days of special preparation.

If a blessing were conferred upon one without a special readiness for it, he would neither value it sufficiently nor long retain it.
