Books and References on Spiritual Warfare

Not everything relevant to the subject of deliverance and spiritual warfare is included on a site such as this. In my view some deliverance ministries are unbalanced and make extreme statements which are not totally true. The truth is extreme enough anyway without making universal statements with no clear foundation in Scripture. Anyway, here are the titles of some books and authors I can recommend on the subject of deliverance.

1. Christian, Set Yourself Free – by Graham Powell.

List of Enemies

Evil spirits entice people with sinful temptations. When yielded to, temptation result in corruption and eventual domination by evil powers.

As well as this, we could consider the false gods, philosophies and religious movements with which people are led astray.

As well as this, there are other spirits which work to bring destruction to people’s lives in different ways.

This article seeks to list many of these evil powers. It cannot be exhaustive.

Sin can be divided into three categories: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. (1 John 2:16).

Unbelief in Believers

Unbelief in Believers

Once the disciples of Jesus failed to cast a demon out of a boy. I wonder what we would have concluded about it. Jesus told his disciples plainly that the reason for their failure to cast the demon out of the epileptic boy was their unbelief, due to their lack of prayer and fasting. (Matthew 17:20)

Today many Christians are offended at any teaching which implies that they may have unbelief. But Jesus was constantly rebuking his disciples for their unbelief, and “little faith”.

If you can get free of unbelief, you will be of all Christians, most fruitful, and most pleasing to the Lord.

Unbelief in Unbelievers

Unbelief is a spirit which causes people to reject what God says is true. The more we can get unbelief concerning God’s promises out of our own hearts, the more we will be effective in destroying it in those who do not yet believe. Unbelief binds the hand of God. It is one of the worst enemies to deal with.

Fearing is a Sin

Although fear is a spirit, it is also a sin against the God who rightly commands us not to fear. If we have placed our trust in God through Christ, God has promised not to abandon us. Is it right to doubt God’s word on this? Don’t we believe that God is willing and able to help us if we trust Him and take hold of the provisions he gives us? It is a sin against God to fear evil. It is a sin to fear what evil men or devils can do, God commands us in many places “Fear not!” God promises to protect us and ultimately get us to heaven. But we need to trust in Him.

Scriptures to Defeat Fear

Meditate on these Sciptures deeply. Say them, mutter them, think about them deeply, ponder them, declare them in the first person. They are weapons to defeat that evil demon of fear which is stopping you from doing the will of our Father in heaven.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

Overcoming Fear

Fear is not only a psychological condition. Fear is a spirit. We see that from the Word of God.

Strategic Intercession

All of us are called to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). We are called to pray always and not lose heart (Luke 18:1). Yet God is ALSO interested in the quality and effectiveness of our prayer lives.

Jesus taught us to pray, “Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” The most effective prayers then are those that bring a manifestation of God’s will as revealed in the Scriptures to the situations on earth.

God wants none to perish and be lost.
