Praying the Word about discernment

Discernment is a God given gift to illuminate our path and to show us the difference between good and evil, show us what is holy and unholy, help us understand the times and give us the right judgement about our situations. It is a supernatural endowment to know information from the Holy Spirit and how to apply it regarding things we would not be able to know by our own natural thinking.

I encourage you to print these prayers and set them in a place where you can see them daily and pray them regularly.

PRAYERS FOR DISCERNMENT

I am your servant, give me discernment that I may understand your statutes. Ps 119:125

Who can discern his own errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep Your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless and cleansed of great transgression.… Ps 19:12-13

Help me become mature, by training my spiritual senses through constant practice to discern between good and evil. Hebrews 5:14

Give your servant wisdom and an understanding heart, that I may discern between good and evil. 1 Kings 3:9

Lord, give me wisdom, like you gave Solomon, exceedingly deep insight and understanding beyond measure, like the sand on the seashore. You promised to give it to my without reproach, if I do not doubt, but believe that what I ask I receive. 1 Kings 4:29; James 1:5-6

Lord, I cry out for discernment, I lift my voice for understanding, Proverbs 2:3

Lord, help me to keep Your Word and thus be a discerning child of God. Proverbs 28:7

Lord, give me a wise heart, to discern both time and judgement, because you say that for every matter there is a time and judgement. Ecclesiastes 8:5

Lord, show me the difference between the holy and unholy and cause me to discern between the clean and the unclean. Ezekiel 44:23

Lord, help me to discern the signs of the times. Matthew 16:3

Lord, do a work in me, that I may be able to receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are spiritually discerned. 1 Cor 2:14

Lord, cause Your Word to discern the thoughts and intents of my heart and help me to repent of the wrong ones. Hebrews 4:12

Lord, I pray that my love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that I may approve the things that are excellent, that I may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. Phil 1: 9-11
