Living with the Holy Spirit

From "Catch the Glorious Fire" by Ps Paul Quadros

Powerful prayer in Ephesians (Eph 3:14-19) shows that, It takes the strength of the Holy spirit in our inner man to put it in action, So we must pray earnestly for his grace and strength to obey (Hebrew 4:16) that is

Paul continues in chapters 4 & 5 to exhort the believers to live lives worthy of the call (4:1), not as gentiles (v-17), but a life of love (5:2), living as children of light (5:8), and being wise (v-15). Our position in Him along with the power of His Spirit will enable us to live up to God’s expectations.

For example, it is like a job in a particular company: once the person is selected and has been given an appointment letter, he must daily perform his duty according to the position given. The company has decided his position but his performance depends upon his actions. If he performs well he will be rewarded, so also in Christ we will be rewarded for every good work.

For we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Eph 2:10) NIV

The good news is this: since it is His grace that qualifies us for this position we can hold unto the Lord to enable us to perform.

God has given His Spirit to help us. The blessed Holy Spirit is given to them who believe in Him, and who are willing to obey Him. (Gal 3:2-5), (John 14:15-16)

Freely God has given everything to us by His grace, thus the victory we have received through Him could be appropriated in our lives by the help of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the person whom the Lord has given to us, as the one who is always besides us and in us. (John 14:16-17). He will glorify Jesus and will make known to us what is of Christ (John 16:14). Since God has given us a free will because He has made us in His image, He invites us (not forcing us) to enjoy His kingdom.

That’s why it is important for us to renew our minds according to His Word; the more we are renewed, the more we can be transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit, because His Word is life and Spirit (Rom 12:2, John 6:63). The work of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God in our hearts is the key: Paul prays for the Ephesians…. to receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him (Jesus)… Eph 1:17, because he knows that it is necessary to understand the revelation of the power of God, the body of Christ, and the authority and position of Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit enables us to receive revelation from the Word and also helps us to live accordingly. He further reveals the great things that God has in store for those who love Him. (1 Cor 2:9-10)

Jesus baptizes us with the Holy Spirit (and fire) so that we can become His witnesses (Acts 1:8). If we are to represent Jesus we need the power of the Spirit in us.
