True Christians are those who love and worship Jesus Christ, and who believe in His name. The Greek word for name, onoma, also means ‘authority’ or ’cause’. So to do something in the name of Jesus is to do it in His authority, for His cause. Jesus’ cause is to liberate mankind from sin, disease, demonic affliction and eternal death. Christians are called to submit to Christ’s authority, and in the power of his authority do spiritual warfare against the forces of evil.
Below are some declarations which, when spoken out loud in faith, will galvanize the believing Christian in his or her loyalty to Christ and His purposes. They represent a Biblical commitment to live in the power and authority of Jesus Christ. They reinforce the promise of God’s resources to back us up in Christ’s mission. They are first person applications based on the Scriptures in parentheses.
