Caspar McCloud’s friend refutes claims by Rebecca Mesiner against Caspar’s testimony

I happen to know Caspar pretty well and I was able to meet with him the other day and ask him if he knew about this article floating around the internet. He did.

It is interesting to me that he makes no attempt to defend himself from the cruel things Ms. Mesiner writes  about him. Caspar only said he was praying for her and asked the Lord to not hold this charge against her. When I pressed him for more information, he simply said Jesus Christ of Nazareth did not answers back his accusers, Christ  is my example to follow so I have nothing more to say about this. Well the facts are Ms. Mesiner never met Caspar. However, I have known him for fifteen years. I first met Caspar back stage at a Phil Keaggy concert in March of 1995. Phil was the one that lead Caspar to the Lord. Phil has asked Caspar to play with him in concert a number of times over the years, and when Phil introduced us and we soon became friends.

So let me examine some facts here. Ms. Mesiner has a young Caspar McCloud running miles and miles barefoot through the snow and ice to ask his teenage girl friend to take him back after they broke up. Do you think someone running through miles of ice and snow barefoot for hours and hours just might get ‘frostbite”, and lose their feet? The truth here is Ms Mesiner seems to have a wild imagination or the former teenage girl friend does. Either way not very responsible reporting.

The fact is that just never happened at all. So what else was simply made up here or exaggerated?

Yes he did legally change his name as a teenager, countless artist change their names in show business what the big deal?

In his book that Ms. Mesiner is attacking here, “Nothing is Impossible”, Caspar tells us at the beginning he was born in America. Then moved to England, his first 45 single he recorded there “Messin Round”, on the Rock Steady Label is still sought after today by record collectors, stating it to be one of the best songs of it’s time, who will easily pay over $100.00 for a copy.

The facts are that he was one of the original cast members of Beatlemania. Unfortunately, due to his health problems, that was starting to manifest itself at this point, he found it very difficult to continue the demanding schedule of being on Broadway and he made the decision to withdraw from the position. Shortly after Beatlemania, Caspar’s health improved for a while and he became the only former Beatlemania cast member signed to Atlantic Records by the CEO of Atlantic Records, Amhet Etrgun who also became his producer. That alone tells me that Caspar
had considerable talent in all areas of performing.

I thought it was interesting that Caspar was referred to as a “phony preacher”. The bible ( old and new testament ) is filled with stories of people that did not start out their life serving God ( some definitely the opposite ), but at a point in their life yielded to God’s calling and soon found themselves serving God and those that God brought into their life. This is seen from the book of Ruth in the old testament to the apostle Paul in the new testament. A modern day example is the recent salvation of one of the original members of Korn
( I recently heard that the drummer of Korn also became a born again
Christian ). Caspars’ main focus is how he can serve God, his son Jesus
and the Holy Spirit and share this love with others with the compassion
that Jesus taught. Considering the way the world is today, that sounds
like a pretty good thing. Caspar was recently invited to discuss the
Bible with some legendary rock stars friends of his, as they are
starting to desire what Caspar found in faith. What good is it to gain
the whole world but lose your very soul?

Could it be that God is using Caspar to share in areas that many could not reach.

Caspar has an amazing testimony that has gone around the world to show that
Jesus Christ is alive and well and still doing miracles. Caspar died of
heart disease in 2001 at a service at Pleasant Valley Church and Pastor
Henry Wright, (along with the whole congregation who were witnesses),
prayed over Caspar and he came back to life totally healed. Caspars’
healing was also medically witnessed by a nurse and an M.D. who both
testified that Caspar did not have a heart beat. His healing was later
medically documented by his cardiologist. For the people that have
never heard of modern day occurrences of coming back from the dead
there are a few books that I know of that also document this. One is by
James Rutz called Mega Shift and another is by Don Piper called 90
Minutes In Heaven.

Unfortunately, Ms. Mesiner did not tell the truth when she went to interview the
elderly couple that took the young Caspar in as a troubled teenager.
She borrowed from them all the old recordings and memorabilia that they
had collected over the many years that Caspar sent them and has never
bothered to return any of them as she promised to do several years ago
before she wrote this unfortunate article.

On
another note, according to the elderly couple, Ms. Mesiner was so
uninformed at the time of the interview that she assumed all Christians
were Catholics.  This sort of helps to explain
the overall feeling of the article. Perhaps she thought Caspar was a
Jew who changed his name and defected from their ranks. Caspar has made
no secret that on his mothers side his great grandfather was a Rabbi in
London England, and on his fathers side of the family that they were
European protestant.

Ms. Mesiner’s article is not really aimed at Caspar, it’s aimed at
Christianity itself. I believe God let her write this article so that
she would be brought to the fore front to have the Christian world pray
for her salvation.

Caspar is a good and kind man who has had more than his fair share of tragic
events in his life especially having his father murdered at such a time
in his life when he was just starting to make an impact in the world of
music. Where is the love and compassion in an article like this for
those who have suffered such a loss in their life? In the book of
Leviticus in the old testament in chapter nineteen, verse sixteen, it
reads, “you shall not go about as a slanderer”. But Jesus did say that
there would be false accusations against his followers.

Ms. Mesiner, I will keep you in prayer.

From Eliot Goldstein May 26, 2010 To Whom it may concern, I first met Caspar McCloud when he was rehearsing at SIR studios as one of the John Lennon’s in the original cast members of the Broadway show Beatlemania in NYC. At the time we met I was working with Michael Shrieve of Santana’s and his new band NOVO COMBO. We all realized that Caspar was quite a talent and Michael Shrieve invited him to jam one night with his band along with Pat Thrall, who was voted guitarist of the year. Caspar rather amazed us with his musically abilities and we all realized he had more to offer the world then just being a fake Beatle clone. Michael Shrieve helped convince Caspar to soon leave the Broadway production before he got type cast as a Beatle the rest of life, and they headed to Jimi Hendrix studio Electric Ladyland to lay down some of Caspars songs with Shrieve producing. Caspar ended up moving back to England soon after that and continued recording there with Michael Ward ( aka Michael Wadada) who took over as manager and producer. I recall Caspar saying being in Beatlemania was only one step higher than being an Elvis impersonator. I think he was uncomfortable with being in a cover tribute band before that idea got popular, being the prolific songwriter he is he had much to share with us. After his attorney lost a record deal with Sir Richard Branson at Virgin Records by making too many demands on the label, Caspar found himself on the Atlantic Records roster with CEO and music legend, Ahmet Ertgun, producing. Mind you Ahmet only worked with the finest talents ranging from John Coltrane, Areatha Franklin, Ray Charles to Eric Clapton – Cream and The Rolling Stones. Sadly Caspar suffered a number of personal setbacks at that time, his dad was murdered in the middle of recording his debut album with Atlantic, which seemed to have a very unfortunate effect on him and his career. He started suffering from various health problems , which prevented him from making the sort of impact that we had hoped he could have achieved on the world of music. I have known him for over 30 some years and he is a good and kind person, a man of faith in his belief as a Christian and a real gentle man. He truly believes that his Lord has healed him and restored him and now I know he feels that the Lord uses him to help many people. He now devotes much of his time and talents serving as a pastor, trying to help other learn some of the hard lessons that he had learned along the path. I just want to set the record straight because I witnessed and was personally involved with Caspar and remain a close friend of his to this day Individuals who do not know the facts and have written lies and distortion about this man of God should be brought into the light. I wish that there were more individuals like Caspar in the world. Things would be much brighter and peaceful. From Michael Wadada Musician/producer World music / Suns of Arqa U K I met Caspar when I was living in Greenwich Village, New York. I was working for Mink Deville at the time, and Caspar was working in the same studio. We got on very well together and he asked me if I would help with recordings he was doing at Electric Lady Land Studios, with Michael Shrives of Santana and some of Shrives musician friends who were all impressed with Caspar’s musical gifts. At the time of our recording sessions in NY, Caspar was performing as John Lennon, in Beatlemania on Broadway. I went to see the show and Caspar’s performance was exceptional. However, I did agree with Michael Shrieves that Caspar was wasting his talents and his own creativity on this Broadway production. During this period Caspar also introduced me to Robert Fripp of King Crimson. I remember this vividly as Fripp was dressed in a pin-stripe suite and carrying a brief case and a Les Paul guitar! As I recall at that time Caspar had told me he met Peter Gabriel when he lived in England previously and Gabriel saw the talent in him and encouraged him to do his first recordings. Apparently Gabriel also took his demo tapes to London and tried to get his label Charisma to sign the young Caspar at that time. I helped Caspar find a place to live near me in Manchester after we both moved back to England shortly after our time spent in NYC. It was then that I finished producing Caspar’s “Messin Round” 45 single on my new Rock Steady Label. I was also managing his career at this time and got him a deal with Sir Richard Branson at Virgin Records as well as booking him to play a number of concert dates. Unfortunately around this time Caspar had some tragic personal events that prevented him from continuing working and his health began to suffer as well. He recovered some time later and ended up on Atlantic records when he again suffered the loss of his dad being murdered which ultimately ended his deal with Atlantic. Caspar is a uniquely talented musician and artist who I have had the pleasure of knowing for over thirty years. He is a very kind and genuine man, who because of his love of Jesus Christ and his calling to serve his fellow man, walked away from the music business and found salvation in the Lord. Jun 9th, 11:20am June 13, 2010 8:48 PM We have known Caspar for several years, both personally and professionally. Although Caspar is a multi-talented artist and musician and has many affluent, celebrity friends, we were amazed when we first met him that he had such a humble and meek spirit. He took time with each individual he met to either encourage them in their faith or make sure they knew Jesus as their personal saviour. Scripture tells us not to judge anyone except by their fruits. What we have seen in Caspar is a lot of good fruit and we are privileged to know him as a friend and fellow pastor. It does not surprise me that Ms Mesiner publicly attacked Caspar. As Christians, we will be persecuted by the world. As Jesus said, “in this world you will have trouble but I have overcome the world”. The enemy tries to take our focus from that which He has called us to do. He warned us of this in Luke 9:62, “And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom”. Look ahead, my friend, for you are a new creature in Christ and the Master awaits to present you with many crowns. Why listen to people who have spread lies about you. if people want to dig up dirt then they will no matter what you do and if they don’t find any then they make it up like that girl from the scene did. I pray she gets saved and repents for what she did to you.
