I might be wrong, but I think we as Christians must move more in the direction of being DOERs of the Word – especially the parts we haven’t liked much – like laying down our lives and telling others about Jesus.
There can be joy in “hearing the Word” and I certainly recommend that you do. The people heard John the Baptist and Jesus gladly at times. You can find really good preachers on Youtube and hear them gladly.
But the real joy I’ve found, surprisingly (!) is found in actually DOING what God says with a heart of faith and love.
Even if it seems like many of your fellow Christians are following a different path.
Listen: you can say “I love Jesus” but what if the Bible says that you don’t love Jesus (because you don’t keep His commandments).
“In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,” (1 John 5:3)
