Yes, we are supposed to grow in divine love, and this is the main thing for us as believers and disciples of Jesus. There are so many Scriptures that teach us to do this. Growth in the fruit of the Spirit mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23 is vital for us, and it happens as we decide to yield day by day and moment by moment to the Spirit of God instead of following mere natural impulses from our previous programming or mindset.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
(Galatians 5:22,23)
This video talks about another aspect which is very neglected by Christian people today. Some talk about it, some even fake it – but to truly embrace it means to live a disciplined life and to wait on God. Self denial is required to maintain the focus required to receive and use the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
We are called to believe and to do the works of Jesus.
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. (John 14:12)
Not many Christians would be comfortable with calling Jesus a liar. Jesus said here though, that we would be doing the works He did – if we believe in Him. Who is right? Jesus or us? Or can we dare to believe what Jesus said about believing in Him?
The truth is, most of us who do these works (miracles etc), do them in His name but with far less power and effectiveness than Jesus walked in. I think this is because we have yet to give our total focus to the Word of God as Jesus did and we have not denied ourselves in prayer and fasting like Jesus did. So, the more we meditate on the Word, and the more we fast and deny our flesh, and the more we step out and take action in obedience to the promptings of the Spirit (exercise), the more we will be ENLARGED in our capacity to bless others.
I hope you, dear reader, will take up the challenge that Jesus gives us here. Join me in doing this. I’ve seen plenty of miracles through my life in Jesus, done by the power of the Holy Spirit, but not on the level that could be. The challenge is to go more into the heart of Jesus. To do these things, we have to give ourselves to them as well as to Jesus. While pursuing these gifts strongly (1 Corinthians 14:1) we must also continue in the pursuit of divine love – which is to be shown both towards God in devotion, and to our neighbors, in acts of service.
So I hope you are encouraged by the video and you make it an object of study and reflection.
Remember, that praying in the Spirit (using prayer in tongues) is one key to the power of the Holy Spirit moving in our lives. You can learn more about the Baptism in the Holy Spirit on this site. For more people, this is the gateway to actually beginning to move in the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 – which are actually all supernatural in nature.
God bless you are you seek to embrace growth so you can be enlarged in your capacity to bless others.
