Does Christianity give good answers to the questions of philosophers?

Philosophy deals with at least these three main questions:

1. What is it that really exists?
2. What should we do?
3. How can we really know anything for sure?

Philosophies that answer the first question are dealing in something called “metaphysics”. The second question is dealt with in the area called “ethics” and the third in the area called “epistomology”.

Every person answers these questions somehow.

Expelled – No Intelligence Allowed – a new movie challenging Darwinism

A new documentary movie has come out which exposes how people in the halls of Academia who dare to even slightly question Darwinism can be blackballed, refused tenure, lose their careers and be maliciously attacked by their colleagues.

You can see the cool trailers and get more information about Expelled – No Intelligence Allowed here.

Surely a system of thinking which is solid does not need to persecute and harrass those who question it.

Hugh Ross on Suffering

The problem under discussion is basically this: If God is all powerful,
all wise, and yet good and loving – how is it that so much suffering and
evil is permitted in God’s world? Why does God not do more to intervene
if He is so powerful and loving?

I have begun to answer this question in another article.

Here are the elements of the answer given by the astrophysicist Dr.
Hugh Ross in his excellent book, “The Fingerprint of God”.

Suffering and the Problem of Pain

Suffering is real. How can we make sense of it? What can we learn from
it? Can we overcome it?

People have different ideas about what is wrong with our world. Obviously
economic injustice, political factors, racism, religious hatred and greed
are factors in the existence of suffering. But they are not the only ones.
They all point to a far more insidious source – one which is in fact not
at all far from our human hearts.

Suffering and pain tell us that something is wrong.

Hamornization of the Resurrection Accounts

The events following the resurrection of Christ are recorded in each of the four gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Like any report of anything, each contains only a partial report of the events. We are seeing a story reported by four different people. Looking at them, it is very hard to believe that they consulted together about what to put in the New Testament. This in fact, can be a good reason to believe the whole thing was not just cooked up for the deception of the masses.

Here is one way you could see these events fitting together my wife and I worked out.

How do you know God is real?

We can know God is real when we experience His reality. God wants us
to know that He is real. One way you can find out for sure is through an
experimental approach. Pray a prayer like this:

“God, if you are real, show me. If you really exist, I want to know
before it is too late.”

No one else needs to know if you prayed such a prayer. If there is no
God, then He can’t respond to any prayer.

Answer to a young person

I thought it good to answer on this website to some good questions that someone recently wrote:

I am a young person, who is currently confused. I have not been brought up in a particularly religious household so I do not have a certain religion that I follow, so to speak. I have friends from a variety of religious backgrounds who are all telling me about their own religion. My grandparents are Christians but parents are Pagan.

I was wondering what was it that made you certain there is, as you say an ‘Almighty God’.

Evidence for Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Could Jesus Christ really have risen from the dead?

The truth of Christianity stands or falls with one central issue: the
physical resurrection of Jesus Christ from death
. Christians traditionally celebrate this event on Easter, but it is relevant for every day actually. If this really
happened, then everyone should listen carefully to all that He
taught. If not, then no one should trust the New Testament,
because the New Testament repeatedly says that Jesus did rise
from the dead.
