God is Sending Us to Romania!
At the end of 2023 we all revisited Romania after 23 years, on what we thought was just to be a holiday. It was great to catch up with people and see a few beautiful things like the mountains of Busteni, and some of Marilena’s relatives, but that wasn’t the highlight.
During that period of 3 weeks, God opened many doors for us, and in that period quite a number of people were baptized in the Holy Spirit, or turned to God, or got freed from evil spirits, or received physical healing.
We were able to help people we brought to Christ 25 years ago, who are now in ministry themselves and are part of a successful church plant in Brasov in which we encouraged them at first to launch into.
Quite a number of the people who were part of our church from the 1990s in Bucharest expressed a strong desire for us to return to Romania. I for one did not want to so much, we finally have a nice situation in Australia, and I suppose there were going to be plenty of opportunities in places like the Philippines for me to minister if I wanted to see more evangelistic action.
However, we became convinced over the next few months that it was indeed God’s will for us to return to Bucharest, Romania. Many factors were involved in this – the inner witness, the strong confirmation from ministers like Ps Vince Esterman who pioneered a network of churches in France over 35+ years, prophetic words, our children’s desire to do it, and more.
There are a number of ways you could give. The best thing is to talk with us personally first. We are looking for the relationship, not only resources, because we desire more spiritual covering in prayer as well as the opportunity to bless those who care about us.
Ministry Vision and Mission
1. Ministering to the Lord and OUR family first. Keeping a consistent prayer life and connection with the Spirit as well as supporting OUR family to settle in Romania and have a fulfilling life there.
2. Plant a church – in Bucharest, the capital – with the existing interest from converts who came to Christ during our previous church plant/pastoring time in Romania, during 1993-1997. They are crying out for us to come back due to struggling to find a church where there is discipleship and love – we met them in November/December when we took a trip to Romania.
The vision is to care for people’s souls beginning with those for whom we are already spiritual parents or mentor. This will be done in their homes mostly and amongst their relational networks. This will involve lots of one on one counselling to help people get over blocks in their faith journey and coach them into discovering and fulfilling their calling. As well as this, it will involve teaching, running home groups and prayer meetings. Our desire is to keep it simple and focus on the things that matter like: prayer, worship, teaching, love/fellowship, discipleship/leadership training and reaching out.
3. Preaching, teaching and demonstrating the Kingdom of God according to Mark 16:15-20
4. Modeling faith and love in the power of the Holy Spirit
5. Support a new church plant started last year by one of the converts in the mountain resort city of Brasov. We mentored them from here through the start and establishment of the church and they want continued input into the struggles and development of the church and leadership team.
6. Teaching people to make disciples and plant small churches; teaching and training others to do the same.
7. Speaking in churches, ministries as per demand. Using my teaching gift to speak truth into deception, prophetic teaching and inspire people to be activated into being active participants in the Kingdom.
MINISTRY VISION SPECIFIC TO MARILENA:
1. Doing teaching and workshops on hearing the voice of God, gifts of the Spirit teaching, discovery and activation, with emphasis on the prophetic, as well as seminars on finding your calling and knowing how to take the initial steps into it.
2. Continuing to write the two books I started. One book is on Hows to’s for an effective prayer life and the other is her life story which includes her testimony and lessons she has learned throughout the journey in ministry and life.
3. Interpreting for Michael in Romania in the context of the local church and other meetings where he is invited to speak.
4. Ministering in my prophetic gift as the Lord moves me in the church context as well as in the evangelism context.
5. Being a friend to other pastor’s wives.

Here is our family a few years ago. It is amazing how the children have grown since then! Lisa is now 19, and Christina, 14.
Digital Missions
The plan is to do more digital outreach through video, social media, writing, games and music creation and so on, as well as the discipleship and church planting work through evangelism. So we have plenty to keep us busy, especially considering the importance we place on prayer.
If this website or ministry has been a source of spiritual food to you, if it has been helpful, consider sending us some money as a way to honor the Word of God. It seems to me that this is right according to the Word of God. Of course, there is no demand or requirement. We are not selling these teachings in books; rather we decided to give them to “whosoever wills”. But there is a principle in God’s Word that those who minister in spiritual things should receive material sustenance from those who have benefited. This doesn’t have to be a large amount, it could be as small as $10 or even less.
There is an advantage to you in giving to spread the gospel like this. The Bible says, “Give, and it will be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, will men pour into your lap. For with the same measure you use, it will be measured back to you.” (Luke 6:38).
“If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things?” (1 Corinthians 9:11)
