The Gift of Jesus

Jesus said, “I am come that you might have life and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

There’s something in the account of the birth of Jesus that if you get a hold of the abundant life he came to give you will be yours. When God gave us Jesus He supplied us with everything we would ever need. Notice what the scriptures say, “Blessed be the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” (Eph. 1:3). Also it says: “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness” (2 Peter 1:3). And all the promises of God are in him (1 Corinthians 1:20).

God has already given and now it’s up to you to receive. Like in the parable of The Prodigal Son when his brother heard of his father having a party for his brother coming home and he had been there working and the father didn’t give him a kid for him to have a party with his friends, the father told him all that he had was his. Notice even though it was his, he went without because the son did not know how to receive. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God (John 1:12) and as a son of God all that He has is yours.

The story of Jesus birth is interesting because it shows you how to receive all the promises of God. I know people like to put everything on God, but you have a part to play in receiving the promises of God. There’s a spiritual exchange that has to take place. Notice in 1 Corinthians 1:20 “All the promises of God are in him(Jesus) yea and Amen”. God has already said yes and amen to his promises and now He needs your agreement. What does Amen mean? It means “So be it”. So when the angel explained to Mary how she was going to have a baby and she said “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word” she was saying “Amen”. Then the angel departed. Why? Because she sealed the deal with her “Amen”. The spiritual exchange took place, God had her agreement.

Now watch this, Jesus was before all things(Col. 1:16,17), but he was spiritual. He was spiritual before he was physical. What did God choose to get Jesus which was spiritual to become physical? Words. God used the mouths of men and a virgin girl to speak his word to get his will in the earth. You have to know how to speak and what to speak to get God’s will in your life. Because it’s the word you believe and speak that you will have (Mark 11:23). In Luke 1:45 Mary’s cousin Elizabeth said “And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.” Well, we know she didn’t just believe she also spoke. You see the word of God is suppose to produce for you. Any word from God that you believe and speak is suppose to do just what Jesus did, turn from words to physical. Notice he’s the word made flesh (John 1:14).

Jesus said “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” So when Jesus hung on the cross and said “It is finished” what he came to do was complete. That’s why all the promises of God are in him so without him there wouldn’t be any promises. He was born to be our sacrifice. Galatians 3:13 says he was made a curse for us so that we could receive the blessing of Abraham. Through him we can receive the free gift of righteousness and an abundance of grace (Romans 5:17). Now it’s time to manifest Jesus finished work. The abundant life is to be manifested. 1John 1:1,2 says For that which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands handled, of the word of life. (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;). Notice Jesus was manifested, you and I were born, but Jesus was not just born he was manifested. Understand Mary didn’t just bring forth a son, but a physical manifestation of the word. Mary had Jesus(the word made flesh) because it’s the word that you speak from your heart that you will bring forth. The word has to be in you so you can speak it forth out of you. Physically a woman brings forth from her womb, but spiritually you bring forth by your mouth. Jesus came out of her mouth before he came out of her womb.

Jesus represents the word. Whatever Jesus did the Word will do if you believe it and speak it. That’s why Romans 10:6-8 says you don’t have to call Jesus up from the grave or call him down from heaven because the Word is near you, even in your mouth and in your heart – that is the word of faith. Notice it has to be in your mouth and in your heart. Jesus said in Mark 9:23 “All things are possible to him that believe.” Now what should you be believing? The word. And according to 2 Corinthians 4:13 when you believe, you speak. Anything you believe and speak from the Word is possible. No more impossibilities – so that healing you need is possible. That deliverance you need is possible. Whatever you need from God is possible. But it starts with putting the word in your heart and speaking it out. For the word to become physical it has to be spoken.
