I asked God into my heart, and he became the crux of my life. My
walk with God consisted of two pairs of
footprints. However, it seemed as though in my most desperate times,
only 1 set of footprints remained. I
asked God why He would leave me in such a fragile state. That is when
he smiled and said, "Child, in
your time of need, it was I who carried you."
My awakening occurred abruptly and harshly. My father was diagnosed
with cancer, and although he slowly
deteriorated before my eyes, the fact that he would no longer be in
my presence never hit me. If the mere
thought of his leave came to mind, I would push it aside and smile.
Hiding what I felt and forgetting the
pain was a temporary defense mechanism that would slowly fade.
My father was in God's hands. I accepted the fact that He was taking
him to a place of eternal happiness. My
father was in immense pain, and I desperately wanted God to take him
and place those deserved wings on his
shoulders. Inside, I was selfishly moaning, "Please, no." But I knew
that God had a plan for my life. I
would become stronger and more independent in the end.
It all became so clear to me. I was born into a Christian home where
missing church on Sunday morning
was unheard of. I am lucky. My faith has always been there, and there
was no doubt that God exists. I faced
a trial, and my faith prevailed. I did not for one moment doubt God's
intentions. I trusted Him and knew
that His actions were righteous. I am thankful for blessing me with
a trustworthy father who instilled
priceless morals in me.
Life compared to eternity is like a blink of an eye. If my actions during
that blink determines whether or
not I will see the gates of heaven, then I will do anything and everything
in my power to make it there.
Please, just take me home, daddy.
