A Call to Arms

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Ephesians 6:10-18 (KJV)
I am not going to jump in on this message that is on my heart by coming across that I am political. However if the truth was to be known we live in a politically hostile environment. For the Christian (true believers) it is not time to “run for cover” but instead stand your ground and declare your convictions in the face of opposition to the truth.
This thing about God being removed out of the platform of the democratic gatherings as well as Jerusalem should be a warning signal of what is coming our way as believers. Many years ago I made mention of it in my recent book. That the radical element of our society is first of all intent on tearing down the fabric of our society and after that is accomplished then their next move is to take “aim” at the church.
So what do I say about that? “Go ahead, bring it on!” If it is a battle you want, then by the Spirit of God it is a battle that you shall get!
In time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act! That statement is one that I recently read on the back of someone’s’ bumper sticker and ever since I read it, it has struck a note of spiritual truth and reality at the heart of my being.
Dick Durbin, who was being interviewed by a Fox news man, was on the defensive over the God issue and the Democratic platform. At one point this is what he said. “Republicans don’t have a corner on God. We Democrats have God also. Then he went on to say that we do many things in his name. As soon as he said that- my instant gut reaction was based on the Words of Jesus.
Lord, Lord didn’t we do great and mighty things in your name? Didn’t we enlarge federal programs aimed at feeding the hungry and helping the homeless? Didn’t we provide free health care for the poor among us?
Jesus then answered them with this. “I never knew you- depart from me you that work iniquity.” The point is: big works in the name of Jesus are not always what they appear to be. Knowing Jesus is all that matters.
Remember this- greater is He that is within you, than he that is in the world!
