One Pastor told me that the appropriate place for the gifts of the Spirit is small, midweek HOME MEETINGS.

But notice that Paul's discussion about the gifts of the Spirit is in the context of "when the whole church be gathered together into one place" (I Cor.14:23). The "whole church" gathered together into "one place" is not talking about some small, sub-groups of the church - it's talking about the main, Sunday morning meeting! That's where all the gifts of the Spirit ought to be finding expression - in our Sunday morning service.
